Welcome to Alameda Community Acupuncture!
We offer acupuncture treatments in a comfortable and relaxed setting at an affordable sliding scale of $17-$40 per session. You decide what you can afford. (There is a one-time $10 orientation fee with the first appointment).
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most common and dependable medical therapies used in the world. It is by nature simple, safe and effective health care. Acupuncturists use thin, sterile, and disposable needles inserted superficially into specific areas of the body in order to help the body's ability to heal itself. Over the three decades or so in which acupuncture has developed in the U.S., it has been proven to be exceptionally safe when performed by licensed acupuncturists, and also statistically effective in an increasing body of scientific studies.
Our goal is to make acupuncture and holistic health care accessible to the communities in and around Alameda, Oakland, San Leandro, Lamorinda, and Hayward.
Why Community Acupuncture?
Most acupuncturists in the U.S. treat patients on tables in isolated rooms. This is not traditional in Asia, where acupuncture usually occurs in a community setting. Treatments are simple and repeated frequently for best results.
At Alameda Community Acupuncture, patients remain fully clothed in comfortable lounge chairs or massage tables in our quiet, soothing community room. Getting acupuncture this way has many benefits beyond being more affordable:
- Many people find it comforting to have others around them rather than being isolated in a private room.
- You can stay in treatment for as long as you need, without being rushed.
- The group treatment room creates a collective healing energy that enhances the power of each individual’s treatment
- Families and friends can receive treatments together.
Our Sliding Scale
Alameda Community Acupuncture is part of a growing movement of clinics in the U.S. based on a vision of making acupuncture part of the solution to our current healthcare crisis. The community acupuncture setting allows us to see multiple patients per hour which, in turn, allows us to lower our fees.
Acupuncture is most effective when received frequently and regularly. Due to the higher cost of private one-on-one treatments common in the U.S., most people can only afford to be treated once a week, at best, and usually for only a month or so at a time. When treated with greater frequency, you will feel better faster and you’ll be able to see longer-lasting results sooner. We want you to come in often enough to get well and stay well. Thousands of patients who go to community acupuncture clinics can testify that acupuncture does not have to be expensive to be effective! We understand that everyone’s situation is different, so we will never ask you for any proof income/need. Everybody is treated the same no matter what you pay on our sliding scale of $17-40. You decide what you can afford.
Because we work on a sliding scale, we are not allowed to bill your insurance company directly. We are, however, happy to provide you with a receipt so you can bill them yourself. Just ask for one at the front desk at the time of your appointment.
